What’s on your summer stack TBR?

The Gramercy Books staff recently compiled its “Summer Vibes Stack” and I thought it would be fun to share that list and a bit more detail about a few of the choices.

I’ll begin with Abby Jimenez’s Just for the Summer, which was an April Indie Next pick by booksellers nationwide, an instant #1 New York Times bestseller, and a Good Morning America Book Club Pick! Elle nailed it: “This witty, slow-burn rom-com is the ‘ideal beach read.’" And, for local readers, Abby will be featured at Columbus Metropolitan Library’s September 8th Carnegie Author Series.

Gramercy digital media guru and co-manager Nikki Snyder’s personal favorite in our Summer Vibe Stack is Emily Henry’s Funny Story. “It had everything I want in a summer read,” Nikki said. “Small town setting, sizzling chemistry, and fantastic side characters.” What more could you want? Named a Most Anticipated book of 2024 by TIME, The New York Times, Goodreads, Entertainment Weekly,, Paste, SheReads, BookPage, Woman's World, and The Nerd Daily, is there any wonder how it landed immediately #1 on The New York Times bestseller list?

From the iconic internationally bestselling author of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, comes Lies and Weddings. A forbidden affair erupts volcanically amid a decadent tropical wedding in this outrageous comedy of manners that was listed as “most anticipating book” by TIME magazine. Here’s a Kevin Kwan novel that will take you around the world—from Hawaii to Venice to Los Angeles to the English countryside.

From France’s most beloved contemporary novelist, Virginia Grimaldi, A Good Life is a June 2024 Indie Next pick that is full of humor and compassion, as it explores sisterhood, healing, and the ineffable beauty of life. A June 2024 Indie Next pick, this is a story that encompasses whole lives, complex lives, women's lives, asking all the while how the scars of the past can be healed and what, in the end, is a good life.

Here are the remainder of our Summer Vibes Stack: Carley Fortune’s This Summer Will Be Different; Emma Rosenblum’s Very Bad Company; Steven Rowley’s Guncle Abroad; Mary Kay Andrews’ Summers at THE SAINT; Catherine Mack’s Every Time I Go On Vacation, Someone Dies; and Christina Lauren’s The Paradise Problem.

For that summer read, people gravitate toward books that are fast paced, not too complicated, and don’t take up a lot of mental bandwidth to aid in their vacation relaxation. We think this SUMMER VIBE STACK satisfies that goal.

Of course, Gramercy Booksellers are always happy to help you find the perfect summer read even beyond this well curated list!
