  • Call me Wally. (Can you tell that I like Moby Dick?)

I’m a mini Aussie Labradoodle and, at three, am pretty advanced for my age. Maybe that’s why I’ve been chosen to be the Gramercy Books mascot! (My adoptive mom also happens to be the owner.) I love stories and I have my very own favorite picks called #WallyReads!

  • Welcome to National Poetry Month! Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, the month of April has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture. At Gramercy Books, April ushers in a bounty of poetry-related programs.

  • Lyrics from Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like an Eagle” keep running through my head. “Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future…” If you’re like me, you feel there’s not enough time in the day and that time passes far too quickly. Daniel Pink’s latest book, WHEN: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, more than piqued my curiosity.

  • Merriam Webster’s definition for inspiration is as follows: “the action or power of moving intellect or emotions.” That describes what happens inside the walls of an independent bookstore each and every day. It also describes what we mean at Gramercy Books when we say: “find inspiration here.”

  • Now entering our second year, Gramercy Books’ “find it here” mantra couldn’t be more appropriate. While we carry bestsellers and all the recent releases, we also focus on curating inventory that allow customers to discover both emerging authors and unexpected titles. Our shelf talkers, written by a knowledgeable staff—all passionate about books—help customers “find it here.”
