Experience the Transporting Power of Story at Gramercy Books Author Events!

Gramercy Books has established an author event rhythm, hosting one every week so readers can hear writers talk about their new books. The October author event schedule is a great example of the diverse mix of selected authors and books, and the multitude of ways to present these authors to the community.

THE GIFT OF BOOKS!

The Gramercy Books staff has scoured the store! Here’s their list of books for all ages and interests during this holiday season. Don’t forget Bexley Holiday Hop (December 8th) with 25% off all calendars that day, and our December 12th birthday party (we’re 3!!) with 20% off everything in the store, our “grand merci” for your loyal support!

TIME AND TIMING

Lyrics from Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like an Eagle” keep running through my head. “Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future…” If you’re like me, you feel there’s not enough time in the day and that time passes far too quickly. Daniel Pink’s latest book, WHEN: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, more than piqued my curiosity.

INSPIRATION!

Merriam Webster’s definition for inspiration is as follows: “the action or power of moving intellect or emotions.” That describes what happens inside the walls of an independent bookstore each and every day. It also describes what we mean at Gramercy Books when we say: “find inspiration here.”

SHELF TALKERS: FIND IT HERE

Now entering our second year, Gramercy Books’ “find it here” mantra couldn’t be more appropriate. While we carry bestsellers and all the recent releases, we also focus on curating inventory that allow customers to discover both emerging authors and unexpected titles. Our shelf talkers, written by a knowledgeable staff—all passionate about books—help customers “find it here.”

KAZUO ISHIGURO: AN EMOTIONAL FORCE

As a young boy, Kazuo Ishiguro uncovered Sherlock Holmes stories in the local library. His subsequent writing journey has been nothing short of adventurous––revealing extraordinary range, playing with genres like detective fiction (When We Were Orphans), science fiction (Never Let Me Go) and fantasy (The Buried Giant) and tackling big themes like the fallibility of memory, mortality, war and love.
