Curated and emceed by House of Toast's Jerry Roscoe, this month will be a celebration of Jewish poetry and poets, featuring well-known local poets Mimi Chenfeld, Charlene Fix, Michael J. Rosen, and Hannah Stephenson.
Mimi Brodsky Chenfeld, poet, writer, educator, dancer and rabble rouser. Mimi's children's novel, The House at Twelve Rose Street was adapted for an ABC television special. Her most recent book is Still Teaching in the Key of Life.
Charlene Fix is the author of four poetry collections, including Frankenstein's Flowers and a critical study, Harpo Marx as Trickster. She is Emeritus Professor of English at CCAD.
Michael J. Rosen is a poet, writer, illustrator, editor of 135 books, including Elijah's Angel, a collaboration with Aminah Robinson, based on his friendship with woodcarver Elijah Pierce, which won the National Jewish Book Award; the beautiful pop-up children’s book, Chanukah Lights; Running With Trains: A Novel in Poetry and Two Voices, a middle grade/YA book of poetry; and the adult poetry collection, A Drink at the Mirage.
Hannah Stephenson is the author of Cadence, winner of the Ohio Chapbook Prize from the Wick Poetry Center. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The Huffington Post and Poetry Daily. She runs the literary arts monthly event series, Paging Columbus!.
